Happy New Year and welcome back for 2020. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season
and found time to spend with family and friends.

I’d also like to wish a very happy Lunar New Year to our Vietnamese, Chinese and Korean
Communities as we celebrate the Year of the Rat on January 25th. People born in the Year
of the Rat are said to be clever, quick thinkers; successful, but content with living a quiet and
peaceful life.

Throughout last year I met with many local residents, community organisations, schools and
businesses. It’s important to me that as your local Federal Member that I am available to
hear direct feedback from locals on a wide range of issues.

It is your voice and your feedback that shapes national policy. My door is always open to all
local residents to speak about anything that is important to you whether it be on a national
level or especially on a local level for our community.

The most common topics raised included investing in our schools and hospitals, more
support for local businesses and looking after our seniors and pensioners.

I’m also pleased to announce the first round of successful applications for the Stronger
Communities Grant Program. A total of $150,000 worth of grants has been allocated to
groups throughout the community towards projects such as playground upgrades, kitchen
refurbishments and the supply of important lifesaving medical devices.

Jamboree Community Kindergarten, Darra RSL Sub Branch and Camira Scout Group were
among those to be included in the first round of announcements with more to follow soon.

As always, if there is anything I can assist with please email me at
Milton.Dick.MP@aph.gov.au or call my office on 3879 6440.

All the best for a happy and successful 2020.
